GOOGLE OPERATORS CHEAT SHEET


The Basics:


“search query”……….Use quotes to search for an exact word or set of words.

-query……….Add a dash (-) before a word to exclude results that include that word.

~query……….Add a tilde sign (~) directly in front of a word to search for that word as well as synonyms.

site:site.com “query”……….Use this operator to source information within a single website for all mentions of a specific word or phrase.
Example
site:amazon.com “Books”

The “Not So” Basics:


links:site.com”……….Find links to a domain (site) from external domains that are in the Google index.
Example
links:amazon.com

site:site.com……….Find pages of a domain that are in the Google index.
Example
site:amazon.com

site:sub-directory.site.com……….Same as the “site” operator, but will only show results of defined sub-domain.
Example
site:aws.amazon.com

site:site.com/folder……….Similar to the “site” operator but explores pages of a sub-directory folder of a domain that are in the Google index.
Example
site.amazon.com/books

To Find Specific Content:


intitle:query……….Find websites in the Google index that have a specific word (query) within the title.
Example
intitle:”books”

allintitle:query……….Find websites in the Google index that have all those specified words (query) within the title.
Example
allintitle: “used books”

allinurl:query……….Find websites that have all of the keywords (query) as part of their indexed URL.

allinanchor:query………Find websites that have all of the keywords as linked text on one or more of their pages.

For Content Promoters:


allintitle:”blog category”………This title search operator will help you take inventory of potential blogs already talking about what you want to promote(infographics, etc.)
Example
allintitle: “mommy blog”

For Guest Bloggers:


“keyword” submit post………These operators help find guest posting opportunities for certain blog categories.
Example
“Finance” submit guest post “SEO” submit guest post.

site:site.com/submit-post……….Can also be combined with the “site” search operator to find out if a certain site accepts guest posts. Try different combinations “submit-guest-blog”, “submit-guest-post”, etc.
